City Center Development Vaduz

The centre of Vaduz is to be upgraded and made more attractive as a location. The defined perimeter extends from the Gasthaus Löwen to the current centre of the city hall square to the Vaduz Cathedral. It includes the city centre of Vaduz and the adjacent public and private settlement structures. There is potential for expansion and densification within this core zone. Additionally, Gaflei, a district of Triesenberg, is integrated into the conceptual zone. The main road, serving as a traffic-oriented lifeline for commuter and bus traffic, is relatively unattractive as the commercial centre of Vaduz. Conversely, the Städtle, as a pedestrian-only zone, is empty and deserted. By prioritising pedestrian-friendly designs, expanding street fronts for mixed-use purposes and implementing crossing points to extend public spaces, the city's core zone can be enhanced. The development of the centre should not be considered in isolation. Influences and questions outside the perimeter are apparent (infrastructure development, settlement and traffic development of the municipality). It is essential to ensure the integration of the overall development of the municipality into the centre's development process.
