Mobility Liechtenstein
Liechtenstein is a country with the highest share of cars per inhabitant in Europe. The question comes up, why is private transportation so popular and how can public transportation improve? In politics there currently is a lively debate. To support this the studio asked these questions together with the citizens’ initiative IG Mobilies Liechtenstein.
To make proposals for an improved public transportation system the transportation lines can be organized in horizontal and vertical groups. For the vertical organization there are 3 possibilities: above ground (+1), on the ground (0) and below ground (-1). For the horizontal organization 3 main line locations have been identified: 1. along the Rhine dike, 2. along the inland Canal (Binnenkanal) or 3. at the main road (Landstrasse). Students choose their groups and systematically worked out the different possibilities and other alternatives altogether. This resulted is a booklet describing possible futures of a sustainable public transport in Liechtenstein.
