On the first two days the students got an impression of the WU, the biggest University of Economics in Europe and were taught by Prof. Dr. Jan Mendling. Prof. Mendling is one of the leading researchers in the area of process mining and has already been working together with the Institute of Information Systems/Hilti Chair of Business Process Management, led by Prof. Dr. Jan vom Brocke, for many years. Next to the key sights of Vienna, like the Hofburg or the Schönbrunn Palace, also the logistics centre of the Austrian Post AG and the Ottakringer brewery were visited. Also a traditional Viennese Heurigen (tavern) and the Schweizerhaus at the Viennese Prater were not to be missed in the evening programme. For the students with over 15 nationalities the excursion was an unique experience to get to know the Austrian capital and the newly opened campus of the WU Vienna in order to gain, next to many new impressions, also important competencies for their further studies.
