As part of their studies, our students regularly participate in practice-oriented project seminars and international competitions like the Accenture Campus Innovation Challenge and the SAP DemoJam. Our students have repeatedly been chosen as winners at such competitions.
Our professors have also received several international awards for their research results and teaching, such as Association for Information Systems (AIS) awards for “Innovation in Teaching” and “Outstanding Contributions to Information Systems Education”. The AIS is the leading academic association for Information Systems worldwide.
The university has also received several awards. For example, the University of Liechtenstein currently holds the top university ranking in eduwo.ch's Swiss Education Ranking 2017.

2018: European Research Paper of the Year
Dr. Markus Weinmann, lecturer in the Master’s Programme in Information Systems, received the “European Research Paper of the Year” award from CIONET for his publication, “How Is Your User Feeling? Inferring Emotion Through Human-Computer Interaction Devices”.
2018: Best Teaching Award
Dr Bernd Schenk, lecturer in the Master’s Programme in Information Systems, received the “Best Teaching Award” at the Dies Academicus from the student representation group of the University of Liechtenstein (ULSV). This prize was awarded for the first time this year.
2017: Process management “Nachwuchspreis”
Bastian Wurm, Master’s graduate in IT & Business Process Management, won the „Nachwuchspreis“ of the „Gesellschaft für Prozessmanagement“ for his Master’s thesis “Development and Application of a Measurement Scale for Business Process Standardization“.
2017: First place in the eduwo.ch education ranking
The University of Liechtenstein is the leading university in the Swiss education ranking 2017 on the recommendation platform eduwo.ch. Around 2,000 students rated their study programmes based on criteria like lecturers, college equipment, and organisation.
2017: Finalists in the Accenture Campus Challenge
The university’s Information Systems students project, “Cownect - Agriculture of the Future”, was a finalist in the Swiss finale of the Accenture Campus Innovation Challenge, a cross-university and international case study competition.
2017: AIS award for “Outstanding Contribution to Information Systems Education”
Prof. Dr. Jan vom Brocke received an education award from the Association for Information Systems (AIS) for the website eduglopedia.org at the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) in Seoul.
2017: WfMC Global Award for Excellence in BPM & Workflow
The Hilti Corporation and the Hilti Chair of Business Process Management at the University of Liechtenstein together won the “2017 WfMC Global Award for Excellence in BPM & Workflow”.
2016: Winners of the SAP DemoJam
Students in the Master’s Programme in Information Systems presented their demo, “UniBuddy”, to about 8,000 participants at the world’s leading SAP conference, TechEd, in Barcelona and were chosen as the winners.
2016: Winners of the Accenture Campus Challenge
Information Systems students won the international final of the Accenture Campus Innovation Challenge in Kronberg near Frankfurt/Main with their project “Smart Waste Management”.

2015: Winners of the SAP DemoJam
At the TechEd conference in Barcelona, students in the Information Systems Master’s Programme presented a solution for increasing energy efficiency to around 10,000 participants and were chosen as the winners.

2014: Most innovative master thesis
Anastasiia Korotina, University of Liechtenstein graduate, won the first prize at the SAP Higher Education Working Group (SAP-Arbeitskreis Hochschulen e.V.) for the most innovative master’s thesis.
2014: SAP University Alliance: Visionary Member
Students at the University of Liechtenstein learn how to use ERP systems by practicing with SAP. Dr. Bernd Schenk, a lecturer in the Master’s Programme in Information Systems, was honoured as a “Visionary Member” of the SAP University Alliance at the SAP TechEd Conference in Berlin.
2013: AIS Award for Innovation in Teaching
Prof. Dr. Jan vom Brocke received the AIS Award for Innovation in Teaching for his “Collaborative Business” course at the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) in Milan.
