Sustainable Urban DesignDescription
The project focuses on the model region of the Swiss Canton of Basel-Stadt. The region is fragmented into energetically homogeneous units in order to estimate the long-term energy demand, the capacity to produce renewable energies as well as the potential to reduce greenhouse gases. The results are also applied to the 2000-Watt Society, a sustainability concept developed in Switzerland.Practical Application
1) Assessment and spatial mapping (GIS) of present and future energy demands2) Assessment and spatial mapping (GIS) of the potential of renewable energy production
3) Assessment and spatial mapping (GIS) of the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
4) Application of the model to the 2000-Watt-Society
