22 students from Liechtenstein, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Eastern Europe, the USA, Northern and Southern Africa as well as South Asia explored this question during the autumn semester 2015. The course «What you should know about art» was offered as part of the cross-faculty electives.
The students learned to understand art as an expression of human creativity, cultural values and as a form of social commentary or political criticism. «Art is what an artist makes – and is also created in the eyes of the beholder» concludes lecturer Ruth Jochum-Gasser.
