Through the series “Student for a day”, the University of Liechtenstein offers students the opportunity to gain insight into the Bachelor’s degree programme in Architecture or Business Administration by organizing practically oriented activities at the university’s campus. This series will continue in April and May 2014.
This event series was developed for prospective students who are interested in architecture or business administration and would like to get a first-hand glimpse of everyday life at the university to assist them in their decision-making process. In addition to a tour of the campus, prospective students will have the opportunity to attend lectures and targeted workshops. The day at the university is rounded off with a personal counselling session focusing on the Bachelor’s degree programme.
Architecture “Student for a day” – paint your own picture
As part of the architecture event, participants have the chance to experience the fundamentals of design and construction by doing a project. They are also allowed to attend a lecture entitled “What is architecture?” and, during a mini-workshop, they are informed about the most important elements of architecture.
In this workshop, plans and sectional drawings are used to define the scale, structure and programme, which are then immediately tested using a three-dimensional model. In the afternoon, the most important aspects of the degree programme in Architecture are also simulated. This also involves a chance for participants to experience the atmosphere within the design studio first-hand.

Business Administration “Student for a day” – a true taste of daily life at the university
The Business Administration “Students for a day” gain insights into the objectives and the structure of the degree programme, as well as into the requirements in comparison to the working methods used in schools. This is achieved, in part, through targeted lectures given by guest speakers active in specialist fields. These lectures are open to both existing students at the University of Liechtenstein and the “Students for a day”.
In addition, a case study in the area of business administration will be carefully examined, allowing participants to experience two of the leading teaching methods employed in a degree course. There will also be ample time for questions to be posed to the Academic Board and to existing students. The day is then rounded off with a tour of the campus, guided by students of the university.
