In his role as Vice-President for Education of AIS (Association for Information Systems, the leading international organisation for research and education in this field), Professor Jan vom Brocke was recently invited to a Workshop on Computing Education Research in Washington DC.
Under the auspices of this workshop, which has the support of the US National Science Fund, measures for improving standards of knowledge in the disciplines of Computer Science and Information Systems were discussed. A particular emphasis was laid on the strengthening of research in this area, on Computing Education Research in particular and on more intensive cooperation between such interest groups as AIS, ACM, CRA and others.
Participants at the workshop included representatives of highly regarded software companies like Google and Microsoft, as well as delegates from big universities like Stanford and Berkeley. US organisations like the National Center for Women & Information Technology were also represented.
