Getting to grips with currently relevant legal practice: On 27 September 2012, the Chair of Company, Foundation and Trust Law of the University of Liechtenstein is holding a symposium on current legal practice in public procurement.
The public procurement legislation (law concerning the awarding of public construction, supply and service contracts) has been in force since 1 January 1999. In practice, its use throws up many problems, not just procedurally, but also regarding its content, such as the question of how tenders ought to and have to be evaluated qualitatively. Keywords such as transparency and equality must be specified in detail. In recent years and in numerous cases, the Higher Administrative Court has had the opportunity to clarify (partially) the not always simple legal matters regarding public procurement (e.g. through the verdict in the Casino case of 31 May 2012).
The Jurisdiction Symposium will be held in the University of Liechtenstein’s auditorium on Thursday, 27 September 2012, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event is aimed at lawyers, trustees, auditors and legal staff working in administration or the financial sector, as well as those interested in current case law.
Experts from the Higher Administrative Court
The speakers at the 20th Jurisdiction Symposium, Andreas Batliner (lic. iur. et oec. ), President of the Higher Administrative Court, Daniel Tschikof (lic. iur.), LL. M., Judge at the Higher Administrative Court, and Azra Dizdarevic‐Hasic (lic. iur. et lic. oec.), Substitute Judge at the Higher Administrative Court, will give participants a comprehensive picture of the current legal practice regarding public procurement and will throw light on the legal character of the contract-awarding process as compared with other European countries.
During a discussion led by Professor Francesco A. Schurr and at a subsequent drinks reception, participants and speakers will have the opportunity to exchange ideas. Please register by 13 September 2012 at www.uni.li/rechtsprechtag.
