At a theme-based evening event for the degree programme Executive Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Taxation, Pierpaolo Rossi-Maccanico, Member of the Legal Service of the EU Commission in Brussels, spoke on “Alternative Vehicles for EU Tax Integration”. In this context – with reference to numerous decisions of the European Commission and European Court of Justice – Pierpaolo Rossi particularly focused on the significance of the ban on state aid (anchored in European law) and its significance when structuring national tax systems. In a stimulating exchange with participants and Academic Director Professor Martin Wenz, current developments in European tax policy and a variety of case studies were also discussed.
