The Hilti Chair of Business Process Management has entered into a partnership with the IT consultancy firm Camelot ITLab. The aim of the collaboration is to adapt the company’s product and service range in the area of big data analytics to the latest requirements by utilizing the university’s research knowledge.
The Big Data Analytics starter package was put together as an initial joint project. It involved academics from the University of Liechtenstein and experts from Camelot ITLab working together to help companies glean business-relevant knowledge from large data volumes. The accurate collection and analysis of mass data from social networks such as Facebook and Twitter and e-commerce transactions is primarily intended to provide new insights and unleash business potential.

Ideal cooperation partner thanks to excellent research
The aim is to utilize the close connection between theory and practice to create new approaches and methods for big data analysis, helping companies to better understand customer behaviour, make well-founded business decisions and predict market developments and trends. This not only concerns the area of B2C, but also the area of B2B, as smart exploration methods will open up enormous cost-saving opportunities. Specific supplier analysis and forecasting service disruptions are just a couple of examples. Further joint customer projects will focus on data analysis along the entire supply chain in order to improve the accuracy of planning and production in companies.
“The University of Liechtenstein is the ideal cooperation partner for us as an IT consultancy firm due to its practical approach and excellent basic research in SCM and big data environments,” says Mario Baldi, CEO of Camelot ITLab.
Valuable practical impetus for researchers and students
The University of Liechtenstein welcomes the practical impetus that the partnership with consultants from Camelot ITLab will bring to its research work.
Professor Jan vom Brocke, Hilti Chair of Business Process Management and Director of the Institute of Information Systems, says, “By teaming up with Camelot, we have acquired an experienced partner with extensive process and technology expertise in the areas of SCM and big data, as well as an in-depth understanding of customer requirements from numerous projects.”
The new partnership also offers students at the University of Liechtenstein the opportunity to take part in international projects during their studies and make valuable contacts outside the university. “The project will familiarize young students with state-of-the-art technology and allow them to complement their academic studies with practical experience. At the same time, Camelot ITLab will benefit from the high level of innovation potential among students at the University of Liechtenstein,” says Professor Jan vom Brocke. There are plans to extend the partnership to other areas in future.
