Opening of the architecture lecture series at the University of Liechtenstein with Bojan Šarčević: Parallel to his exhibition in the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein entitled «A Curious Contortion in the Method of Progress» the Bosnian-French artist will be holding a lecture at the University of Liechtenstein on 28 March 2012.
In his lecture, Bojan Šarčević will be providing some insight into the development of his varied oeuvre with selected photos and examples recorded on film. For the first time, he will be presenting works from his student years to show how great an influence this period had and still has on him. The event will be held on Wednesday, 28 March 2012, from 6 p.m., in the University of Liechtenstein’s auditorium, and is made possible through cooperation with the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein. Šarčević’s lecture opens the «On the Make» lecture series of the Institute of Architecture and Planning for the 2012 summer semester. Entry is free.
Fundamental questions directed towards art and society
One of the focus areas of Bojan Šarčević’s work includes sculptures, their representation in the media and the spatial aspect – the architectural and social environment. The architectural situation always acts as a field of reference, in which he positions his precise placements similar to a choreography. Through his minimal choice of works, which all relate to the situation at hand, spaces of great atmospheric density are created, whose polar significance is reciprocally developed and increased when viewed as a whole. The exhibition, a production of the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein and curated by Christiane Meyer-Stoll, is being held at the Kunstmuseum in Vaduz and is open to visitors until 6 May 2012.
«On the Make» lecture series
The lecture series of the Institute of Architecture and Planning in the 2012 summer semester highlights the parallels of creation in disciplines related to architecture. The invited artists, photographers, curators and publishers successfully operate on an international level. On 18 April, the bookmaker and publisher of the Sophisticated Art Books in Splendid Beauty, Dino Simonett, will be talking about the symbiosis between construction and the publishing of books. On 16 May, Philipp Meier of Cabaret Voltaire, a cultural institution with an interdisciplinary approach and an artistic concept influencing urban life, will be a guest at the university. And Walter Niedermayr, photographer and lecturer at the Free University of Bozen, will be creating references to spatial visualization in photography on 6 June.
