Lothar Ritter appointed as new President of the University Council

On 28 February 2023, the government appointed Prof. Lothar Ritter from Mauren as the new President of the University Council.

Prof Lothar Ritter from Mauren was a formative figure in the Swiss university environment for 35 years. At the end of October 2022, the former Rector of the Interstate University of Applied Sciences Buchs NTB and Head of the Department of Technology at OST - Ostschweizer Fachhochschule took early retirement. As the new President of the University Council, he will contribute his extensive experience as a professor and manager in higher education, his expertise in higher education management and his enthusiasm for dynamic expert organisations at the interface between science, politics, business and society. Lothar Ritter: "I would like to make an active contribution to the further development of the University of Liechtenstein."


The graduate mathematician is, among other things, Chairman of the Board of the Digital Liechtenstein location initiative, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Liechtenstein STEM Initiative Foundation, a member of the Swiss-Liechtenstein Association and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Wyon Foundation.

Lothar Ritter will take over the office of President of the University Council on 1 April 2023 from Dr Klaus Tschütscher, who has held the office for four years in a far-sighted and prudent manner. The government would like to thank Klaus Tschütscher for his extraordinary commitment to the future of the University of Liechtenstein. With his extensive leadership experience, Tschütscher has made a significant contribution to further professionalising the university in recent years, successfully completing the accreditation process and setting the strategic course for the future with the transformation process.
