‘Robert Merton for example gave a lively lecture on the ways in which social network analysis and information visualisation can help to reveal systemic risks in the highly networked financial industry.
‘After that Daniel McFadden gave some initial insights into the application of neuroscientific methods (like MRI scanning, for instance) when researching the connections between happiness and consumption. At the same time he warned his hearers that there is still a long way to go before such tools can be reliably used in the economic sciences.’
