The AIS, the academic world organization for Information Systems with headquarters in the USA, honored Liechtenstein as an «Outstanding Chapter of the AIS» and its performance in research, teaching and transfer. The work of the researchers and employees at the Institute of Information Systems of the University of Liechtenstein, who have been awarded already in 2014, 2015 and 2016, is thereby honored for the fourth time by the AIS. Prof. Dr. Jan vom Brocke, Head of the Institute of Information Systems and Hilti Chair of Business Process Management, has founded the Liechtenstein Chapter of the AIS in 2009, which represented the first German-speaking Chapter of the AIS. The Liechtenstein Chapter of the AIS is a community of the AIS, which – next to other chapters, e.g. USA, Australia or China – represents the interests of Liechtenstein and introduces the work from Liechtenstein to the international professional research community. Criteria for recognition included for example hosting events, workshops, or conference tracks, published journal papers and activities in teaching. Thereby, next to organizing a track for students and awarding a «Best Student Paper Award» at the Information Systems conference 2017 in St. Gallen, Switzerland, also many other projects by the Institute of Information System with regional industry have been honored.
Outstanding research accomplishments
The researchers at the Institute of Information Systems could catch the attention in 2017 again with high-quality publications in worldwide leading journals and presentations on conferences, and have been awarded with international prizes. Prof. Dr. Jan vom Brocke and his team received the “AIS Award for Outstanding Contribution to Information Systems Education” at the international conference on Information Systems (ICIS) 2017 in Seoul, South Korea, amongst others for the project «EDUglopedia.org», an open and free online platform for study programmes and institutions worldwide, and its related and yearly-published «AIS Global Information Systems Education Report». Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Jan vom Brocke together with Prof. Dr. Oliver Müller, Prof. Dr. Iris Junglas and Dr. Stefan Debortoli have been awarded with the «Senior Scholars Best Publication of the Year Award» and Dr. Sanja Tumbas together with Prof. Dr. Nick Berente received the «Best Theory Development Paper Award» at the ICIS 2017.
