In the scope of the second module of the Executive Master of Laws (LL. M.) in Corporate Law, which started in September, a festive fireside event was held at the University of Liechtenstein on 5 December 2012.
Both alumni students from the programme, which is already being offered for the fourth time, and participants from the continuing education programmes in Trust Services and Trust Law were invited.
First, the participants, which included representatives from the Office of Land and Public Registration, the Financial Market Authority and the Ministry of Justice, welcomed the festive season with raclette and mulled wine in front of the university. Students, lecturers and alumni of the Executive Master’s programme enjoyed interesting encounters and discussions in a cosy atmosphere outside the regular teaching and learning environment.
HSH Prince Michael of Liechtenstein kindly contributed to this networking event with a speech on “The Liechtenstein foundation law in practice”.
Introducing the topic, HSH Prince Michael of Liechtenstein emphasized, among other things, the importance and the role of the University and its programmes in relation to Liechtenstein as a financial centre.
He stated that, subsequent to the comprehensive revision, the Liechtenstein foundation law had been subjected to significant changes. He added that the reform had gone well, even if financial-market players requested greater freedom for founders. Overall, the reform could be compared to the assembly of a new car, where strengths and possible weaknesses only become apparent after a certain time. The subsequent discussion focused on the recognition of Liechtenstein structures abroad.
The evening was concluded with cosy chats around the warming fires, while the participants enjoyed roasted chestnuts and mulled wine.
