How is packaging for Red Bull or for Hilti dowels manufactured?
Rondo Ganahl is one of the leading packaging manufacturers in the German-speaking area, focusing on the production of corrugated board packaging, corrugated case material and the collection of waste paper and packaging.
The paper factory in Frastanz produces corrugated case material made from 100% waste paper and has taken on a leading role in the key markets of Germany and Austria with its white and mottled testliner products. In addition, Rondo maintains corrugated board plants in Frastanz (Vorarlberg), St. Ruprecht/Raab (Styria), Budapest (Hungary), Apahida/Cluj and Târgoviste (Rumania) as well as Istanbul (Turkey). Rondo’s customer portfolio is varied, ranging from Red Bull, Rauch fruit juices, Zumtobel and Hilti to Hilcona, Migros and Novartis.
During the excursion to Rondo, students will get to know the production processes of corrugated board packaging. Managing Director Mag. Hubert Marte will provide insights into particular aspects of the packaging business, and students will also learn how the production process and the related logistics are controlled when the average order period is less than a week. On the basis of Rondo’s newest acquisition, a corrugated board plant in Turkey, we will discuss the challenges of intercultural management and the possible pitfalls of a corporate language. Fascinating insights are guaranteed.

Excursion to the TAK Theater Liechtenstein in Schaan
Tuesday, 30 April 2013, 8 p.m. to approximately 10 p.m.
CMMN SNS PRJCT (Common Sense Project)
In the CMMN SNS PRJCT, the stage is transformed into a market place and stock exchange. Together with the audience, Martin Schick and Laura Kalauz discuss economic activities from every angle, from giving to lending and on to bankruptcy. An illustrative and entertaining lesson about greed and generosity, need and abundance, communication and voyeurism.
The intelligent and cheeky CMMN SNS PRJCT by Laura Kalauz and Martin Schick, which was created for the 2011 Freischwimmerfestival and has since enjoyed international success on tour, broaches the subject of everyday economic communication and relationship models, which are founded on a more or less internalized basis, on which people act, trade, arrange, communicate and agree – i.e. what is generally called “common sense”.
After the performance, students will be given the opportunity to discuss the piece with the two artists and the theatre management.
Those who are ready to leave their comfort zones and to question familiar constructions of reality should definitely come along!
Entry for students: CHF 10.00
Excursion to illwerke VKW Vorarlberg in Bregenz
Friday, 24 May 2013, 9 a.m. to 12 noon
E-mobility – discover what lies behind the technology and test it yourself
In its 2050 vision, illwerke VKW sees Vorarlberg as an energy-independent region. But how can you meet such an ambitious target. And what are the possible implications for everyday life?
One of the elements on the way to achieving this vision is clearly the efficient use of energy. With VLOTTE, which meanwhile comprises 350 electric vehicles, illwerke VKW has transformed Vorarlberg into a model region for the whole of Europe.
How did it manage to achieve this? What are the success stories and what setbacks had to be overcome? How was VLOTTE set up and how could the status of a model region be reached? During this excursion, students will have the opportunity to find out more about these questions and others.
At the end of the excursion, participants will be able to test various electric vehicles themselves. Those who have always wanted to try out a Segway, an e-scooter, an e-car or an e-bike now have the chance to do so!
Contribution towards expenses: CHF 5.00
There are 20 places available per excursion. Participants will be admitted on a first come, first served basis.
