On Monday, 14 May 2012, the Propter Homines Chair for Banking and Securities Law at the University of Liechtenstein informs about the implementation of the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD) in Liechtenstein.
The transposition of the AIFMD in Liechtenstein (so called “Entwurf eines Gesetzes über die Verwalter alternativer Investmentfonds (AIFMG)”) will facilitate new business models, while at the same time it obliges fund companies domiciled in Liechtenstein to modify former IUG structures. In the scope of the 4th Liechtenstein Funds Forum, various options and routes will be presented for domiciling new alternative investment funds and managers in Liechtenstein.
Restructuring to start in 2012
While the Liechtenstein AIFMG does not come into force until 2013, now is the time to inform promoters, intermediaries and managers of alternative investment funds with an interest in Liechtenstein about the new legal framework. Now is also the time to start planning to adapt existing structures in order to avoid negative outcomes at the end of the transposition period. The event will begin at 4 p.m. on Monday, 14 May 2012, at the University of Liechtenstein. Practitioners and staff of the Financial Market Authority as well as interested researchers and students are welcome.
Dos and don’ts of domiciling AIFs
Dr. Günther Dobrauz, MBA, Senior Manager at PwC (Regulatory & Compliance Services) in Zurich, and Professor Dirk A. Zetzsche, LL. M. (Toronto), Propter Homines Chair for Banking and Securities Law at the University of Liechtenstein, will report at the event. Both speakers are members of the AIFM working group in Liechtenstein and will explain the steps that should be taken into account when domiciling new intermediaries in Liechtenstein. In addition, various structures permissible in accordance with the AIFMG will be presented, together with the legal modes of the migration of funds and fund managers.
