Description
- Presentation of the research question, theoretical foundation and methodical progress of the empirical analysis to the examination board.
- Provision of convincing arguments to the audience on the relevance and importance of the conducted analysis and persuasion of the board on the existence of broad knowledge in the specialized field.
- Defence of the research topic during the discussion
Lecture Goals
The students present and explain the basic problem of their master thesis describing the background of the research problem, the motivation for solving it and for formulating the research question.
The students illustrate graphically the procedure and provide convincing arguments that lead to the solution of the research problem.
The students express specialised positions and problem solutions in a public setting and defend their findings verbally.
The students present the research question and solution of the problem in a plain and comprehensible way to the board of experts.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the presentation the student can assure the examination board of his ability to defend the research findings and statements claimed in the master thesis. The student is able to satisfy highest academic and practice-oriented expectations by conducting an in-depth research analysis and by providing a broad knowledge within the specialsed field.
The candidate fulfills all the qualifications in connection with the status of holding a master's degree.

Admission Requirements
On a positive judgment of the master thesis proposal and the individual module examinations, the student complies with all the requirements for participation on the presentation and defense of the master thesis.
Exam Modalities
The defence process in front of the examination board is scheduled as follows:
- max. 20 minutes presentation of the research topic, methodology and findings
- about 20 minutes in-depth discussion of the project and related fields in Banking and Finance with the committee members
- approx. 15 minutes discussion of the examination committee behind closed doors aiming to come to a decision on the final grade

Each candidate has to bring along 3 copies of their final presentation for commitee members to take notes during the presentation.
