Description
How can tradition survive or even be translated innovatively into today? How do we identify the needs of a culture, to translate them into specific uses and typologies? Conradin Clavuot reports on his architectural practice in the alpine region in the tension between tradition and innovation.
Since his diploma degree at ETH Zurich in 1988, Conradin runs his own architectural firm in Chur. In addition to numerous awards for Good Building in the Grisons, for New Building in the Alps, for the Grisons Wood/Special Prize Wood Crafts and for Best Family Homes, he received the 2011 International Brunel Award for the development and design of Chur train station. 2010–2016 he held a guest professorship in the Master’s degree programme at the
Institute of Architecture and Planning at the University of Liechtenstein, where he supervised Laurentiu Tiberiu Stancu, the winner of the “European Architectural Medal” for the Best Diplome Project in 2015.
