Ziele
In the module "Research Methods" students become familiar with the up-to-date research approaches and methods in the field of business process management. An extra and independent module, the module takes into consideration the special situation of design-oriented research having advanced to one of the most predominant research approaches for business process engineering. Students are taught this research approach that has been transferred to a business process environment from the engineering field. It forms a basis for all modules in the master program. The goals of qualification for the module and the acquired competences of the students are as follows:
The students are made familiar with central research methods in information systems science and their fields of application. They are able to represent various process models in qualitative, quantitative, and design science research (DSR) and to distinguish them from one another. They learn the adequate research methods for information systems and are aware of quality ensuring in the scientific work. They are able to give various cases as examples for best resp. worst cases in order to evaluate the use of research methods in their own work and that of others. They have learned the use of concepts and methods in their seminar work.
