Beschreibung

Information Technology (IT) has changed the economic and social relations in the Information Age.
This course focuses on the role of IT in international economics and its impact on modern society. It covers topics including IT as a factor in global economic activities, the IT revolution, the new economy, and the emergence of the network society.

Ziele

This course aims at

  • understanding the role of IT in international economic and social relations
  • applying basic international economics to IT-related phenomena
  • critically evaluating discussions on the role of IT in the Information Age

Prüfungsmodalitäten

  • Each student is required to write a term paper of 6'000 words (+/- 10%) on a specific topic of the course (70% of total assessment).
  • Presentation (12 minutes) and discussion of the term paper (30% of total assessment) at the final date of the course.
  • Paper and slides for the presentation have to be handed in at least one week before the final presentation (one hard copy and one electronic version) to the lecturer.
