Lauri Pöntynen - A group big enough to pretty much invade a whole train car set off towards Munich on the 21st of April. Surprisingly the mode of transport changed from bus to train already in Schaan: it is possible (at certain times) to travel from Schaan to Feldkirch by train!
There was a stopover at Lindau which provided the opportunity to have some breakfast at the harbor and take a look around the city. (Coinicidentally there were fire crews and other rescue workers setting up their displays and attractions for the Blaulichttag.) Finally after viewing a lot of beautiful Bavarian countryside, the group of international students arrived in Munich and headed straight for the impressive building of BMW Welt.
The guided tour of BMW Welt took us through the founding of the building, gave some background on the design, walked us to nice viewing points and even provided us with a look into the inner workings below ground. The guide walked us through the whole process of vehicle delivery at the BMW Welt and the enormous operations that go on behind the scenes to deliver up to 180 new BMWs per day to those customers who choose to have their car delivered at BMW Welt.
On display were vehicles ranging from the miniscule classic Isetta (which apparently owes much of its design to refrigerators) to the still-concept version of the upcoming new 4 Series Coupé. There was a look at the current models including the special Individual-line offering as well as the more radical composite-bodied new generation of models: the electric i3 and hybrid i8.
Moving to the center of Munich, the now very hungry group were treated by the famous Hofbräuhaus Beer Hall's delicious menu, music and of course a mug of beer! The popularity of Hofbräuhaus is no mystery as whatever people chose, whether it was traditional Bavarian pork knuckle or another local dish, it was really enjoyed and the atmosphere was unique.
Some of the group even decided to stay behind a bit longer to explore more of Munich!
