Rector Klaus Näscher, Vice-Rector Michael Hanke, the President of Swissuni Suzanne de Jonckheere and Vice-President Dr. Andreas Fischer are delighted about the cross-border collaboration, which will broaden perspectives and raise the visibility of the cooperation partners both in the region and internationally.
The aim of the cooperation agreement is to guarantee the exchange of information regarding university continuing education and to work together more closely on specific issues, for example in the areas of programme formats and quality assurance.
Switzerland-wide network
Swissuni is made up of the continuing education centres of all Swiss universities (Basel, Bern, the Distance Learning University of Switzerland in Brig, Fribourg, Geneva, Lausanne, Lucerne, Neuchâtel, Svizzera italiana, St. Gallen and Zurich, as well as EPF Lausanne and ETH Zurich). The heads of these continuing education centres as well as a representative of the Rectors’ Conference of the Swiss Universities (CRUS), which is a permanent guest member, work together on questions related to continuing education and coordinate their activities.
Swissuni – Swiss University Continuing Education
Swissuni promotes university continuing education through real collaboration between all university continuing education centres, in particular through:
- Sharing information and experiences
- Collaboration between university and non-university organizations and institutions on a national and international level
- Supporting European networks for university continuing education
- Collaboration with the Rectors’ Conference of the Swiss Universities (CRUS)
- Initiating specific common projects
- Maintaining a shared database containing all the continuing education programmes offered by members
In the case of all partners, university continuing education is based on the latest research findings and can therefore be seen as a particularly efficient form of knowledge transfer between academia and practice.
