Graduation ceremony April 2017

The graduation ceremony of the University of Liechtenstein took place on Friday, 7 April 2017. 48 graduates of the university received their Bachelor’s and Master’s degree diplomas. In addition, prizes were awarded to four graduates for exceptional performance.

Rector Dr Jürgen Brücker

Rector Dr Jürgen Brücker, the respective study directors and the doctoral advisor presented the graduates with their degrees in the fields of architecture and business economics. The ceremonial address was given by Prince Michael of Liechtenstein. In his welcoming speech, Jürgen Brücker encouraged graduates to go their own way, and quoted Immanuel Kant: “Have the courage to use your own mind”.

Exceptional performance

Four graduates were presented with awards from Liechtenstein companies and associations for their exceptional performance.

Awards in the field of architecture

The LIA, the Liechtenstein Association of Engineers and Architects, traditionally presents awards to the best graduates of the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in architecture. The award for the Bachelor's programme went to Diogo Filipe Da Silva Elias, with a dissertation grade of 6.0 and an average grade of 5.4  For the Master's programme, the award went to Alena Tkachenka with a dissertation grade of 5.5 and an average grade of 5.2.

Awards in the field of business economics

As in the previous years, Hilti AG's “Promotion of Young Technical Professionals” foundation presented awards for the most innovative dissertations from the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in the area of economics. The award for the Bachelor's programme in Business Administration went to Inga Hämmerle, with a dissertation grade of 6.0 and an average grade of 5.4. The award for the Master's programme in Business Process Management went to Bastian Wurm with a dissertation grade of 6.0 and an average grade of 5.4.

Doctorate in business economics

Sarah Zelt was awarded a doctorate for her doctoral thesis “On the Concept and Role of Context in Business Process Management” in the field of information systems. Doctoral advisor Jan vom Brocke briefly presented the thesis and handed over the certificate and doctoral cap to the new doctor.
