In his article “The emergence of entrepreneurship as an academic field: A personal essay on institutional entrepreneurship” in Research Policy, he says: “Until 1980, there were virtually no scientific journals specializing in entrepreneurship. One of the first journals on the subject was published in Europe: Internationales Gewerbearchiv, which first appeared in 1952.”

Cooperation with the University of St. Gallen
The journal, which first appeared in 1952, is one of the oldest entrepreneurship journals in the world and a forerunner to the current Zeitschrift für KMU und Entrepreneurship (ZfKE). Since July 2010, the journal has been published by the University of Liechtenstein in conjunction with the University of St. Gallen.

The ZfKE is the only German-language journal focusing on entrepreneurship. It is published four times a year by Berlin-based Duncker & Humblot, with a circulation of 700. Articles published in it meet high academic standards but are also relevant in practice. Since it first appeared, the specialist journal has been consistently developed. Today, the ZfKE is the leading academic journal on SMEs and entrepreneurship in the German language.
