On the occasion of an informal meeting between the Principality of Liechtenstein and South Tyrol, the northernmost federal state of Italy, EURAC energy experts Dr. Wolfram Sparber and Dr. Daniele Vettorato had the chance to visit Liechtenstein for the first time.
On the occasion of an informal meeting between the Principality of Liechtenstein and South Tyrol, the northernmost federal state of Italy, EURAC energy experts Dr. Wolfram Sparber and Dr. Daniele Vettorato had the chance to visit Liechtenstein for the first time.
The purpose of the visit to the campus in Vaduz were talks between the experts and Professor Peter Droege, holder of the Chair for Sustainable Spatial Development at the Institute of Architecture and Planning, who is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Council of the EURAC institute. The focus of the exchange on renewable energies in the alpine region was the development of joint research projects and programmes against the backdrop of important cross-border cooperation.

Klaus Näscher, Rector of the University of Liechtenstein, welcomed the experts and drew geographic and economic parallels between the Alpine Rhine Valley region and South Tyrol. Representatives of other research areas of the university also took the opportunity to get to know each other and to establish common ground.
University Councillor Dr. Mario F. Broggi and the head of the Energy Office and the national representative at the Platform on Energy of the Alpine Convention, Jürg Senn, welcomed the guests and took up existing traditions and energy subjects of the Alpine Convention.

During the visit to the campus there was a highly productive exchange of ideas that opened up possible future forms of scientific cooperation in research and teaching between the University of Liechtenstein and EURAC in the field of renewable energies.
EURAC is a European Academy which was founded in Bozen in 1992 by private individuals. It is an interdisciplinary centre for more than 180 scientists and other members of staff from all over Europe. The EURAC Institute for Renewable Energy engages in applied research in the fields of solar energy and energy efficiency in buildings. The activities encompass international research projects and direct cooperation with industry partners.
