European legal acts significant for Liechtenstein: Mag. Heinz Konzett, head of the legal section of the Financial Market Authority Liechtenstein, has been confirmed as co-speaker for the 3rd Liechtenstein Forum on Banking and Securities Law on Monday, 7 May 2012.
The 3rd Forum on Banking and Securities Law will focus on three European legal acts and their influence on Liechtenstein legislation. It will explore the harmonization of sanctioning mechanisms on a European level and their implementation in accordance with the CRD IV Directive. The reform of the Market Abuse Directive, which will entail changes to the laws on insider trading and market manipulation, will also be examined. Furthermore, the forum will address the “Mortgage Directive” (a proposal by the commission for a directive related to credit contracts for residential real estate).
Decisions with long-term effects
All three legal acts affect business operations of banks in particular, and of other participants in the financial market. The aim of this third forum is to inform the market participants about the upcoming changes, to estimate possible consequences and to set priorities in order to determine a long-term approach for market participants. The speakers are Professor Dirk A. Zetzsche, who holds the Propter Homines Chair for Banking and Securities Law at the University of Liechtenstein, and Mag. Heinz Konzett from the Financial Market Authority Liechtenstein. The forum will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is aimed at representatives of banks, lawyers and legal experts active in the financial centre, at employees of the Financial Market Authority, at trustees, asset managers and fund managers. Interested students and scientists are also welcome.
Executive Master of Laws (LL. M.) in Banking and Securities Law
Before the forum, at 4 p.m., an information event will be held in connection with the Executive Master of Laws (LL. M.) in Banking and Securities Law programme in English, which will commence in the form of a part-time degree programme in September 2012. Interested parties will receive information on the study plan, curriculum and study times. Participants can also attend the subsequent Forum on Banking and Securities Law without charge.
