Digital Transformation at Hilti

Successful completion of students’ project at Hilti

The students of the master’s programme Information Systems within the specialization “Business Process Management (BPM)” of the University of Liechtenstein have worked one semester on current questions regarding digital transformation at the Hilti AG. From the view of process management it was compiled, how sales channels could change, which new possibilities of internal cooperation there are, which new business models could evolve out of digital transformation and what this means for the Hilti AG on a global scale.

“It is impressive, what the students from the Institute of Information Systems have achieved in such a short period of time”, said Dr. Ralf Diekmann, Head of IT Governance at the Hilti AG. Also Prof. Dr. Jan vom Brocke, Head of the Institute of Information Systems and Hilti Chair of Business Process Management was excited by the performance of the students: “In the beginning of the semester we asked for a ‘firework of ideas’ and they have provided this. Hats off to the quick comprehension and innovative strength of our students.” Part of the ingredients is also the internationality of the students, which includes already at the Institute of Information Systems alone over 20 nationalities. “Here a lot of ideas come together”, emphasized Dr. Bernd Schenk, Deputy Head of the Institute, who supervised the seminar together with Roope Jaakonmäki, PhD student at the Hilti Chair.

The study programme Information Systems at the University of Liechtenstein has been honored already many times, especially for winning the international Accenture Campus Innovation Challenge, the SAP Inno and DemoJam at the world’s largest SAP conference TechEd by the students or the AIS (Association for Information Systems) Award for Innovation in Teaching by Prof. Dr. Jan vom Brocke. Since 2015, there are two specializations to select, one in Business Process Management and one in Data Science. The students and graduates are in high demand as specialists and qualified professionals in the region.
