Professor Sascha Kraus, Associate Professor at the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Head of the Competence Centre for Entrepreneurship and Family Businesses, has been chosen to receive the Best Paper Award of the Global Innovation and Knowledge Academy (GIKA) at its 2014 Annual Conference.

This year’s topic at the conference, which was held in Valencia, Spain from 7 to 10 July 2014, was ‘Spirit of Strategy (S.O.S): the New S.O.S for Competitive Business’. Among the works submitted was an essay by Professor Sascha Kraus and his co-authors on ‘Distance and Perceptions of Risk in Internationalization Decisions: A Conjoint Choice Experiment’, which together with the associated lecture won the prize.

Professor Kraus wrote the work in partnership with three other research colleagues: Professor Tina Ambos of the University of Sussex, Assistant Professor Felix Eggers of the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, Netherlands (a former post-doctoral student at the Institute for Entrepreneurship in Liechtenstein) and Assistant Professor Beate Cesinger of the Montpellier Business School, France (also a lecturer at the Institute for Entrepreneurship). The essay was based on the ‘ent-e-12’ research project, which received support from the Liechtensteinischer Forschungsförderungsfonds (FFF) [Liechtenstein Research Promotion Fund). The project casts light on the first-time internationalisation decisions of managers, making use of an experimental research approach relying on choice-based conjoint analysis.
