Why are there parking fees at the University of Liechtenstein?
According to a decision by the Vaduz municipal council, parking spaces on campus are subject to a fee. The legal basis is anchored in the Building Act (BauG) of the Principality of Liechtenstein dated December 11, 2008, Article 63.
What are the rates?
The standard rate for parking across the entire site is CHF 1.00 per hour.
A day permit costs CHF 1.50 for students and CHF 2.50 for lecturers and employees. There are also monthly, semi-annual and annual parking permits provided.
The costs for the use of the charging stations for electric cars are CHF 3.30 per hour and require a valid parking permit.
How does it work?
Parking fees can be paid by using the apps Parkingpay and EasyPark as well as TWINT. In addition, a central parking meter is available for payment with cash. Charging station fees can only be paid via the apps or TWINT.
How do I get discounted rates?
Students, employees, and lecturers can purchase parking permits via their Parkingpay account. It is necessary to register the vehicle registration number(s) on the intranet before.
What happens if I don't have a valid parking permit?
If you don't have a valid parking permit, you have to expect a surcharge of CHF 20.00. This can be put in the enclosed bag in the "Internal Mail" mailbox at the reception of the University of Liechtenstein within 14 days, together with the parking ticket. Alternatively, the surcharge can be paid at reception via card payment. If payment is delayed, the claim is assigned to the Vaduz municipal police and you will receive a hefty fine of at least CHF 40.00 by post.
Can I also pay in euros?
When paying using apps, you can pay by credit card (Parkingpay and EasyPark) or PayPal (EasyPark). The parking meters on campus only accept Swiss francs in coins. The surcharge must also be paid in Swiss francs.
Where can I complain about an unjustified fine?
You can file a complaint with the University of Liechtenstein within 14 days, provided you can present proof of payment or the parking ticket you purchased. If you receive a fine from the municipality of Vaduz, you must file a complaint there.
