At the 3rd General Conference of the International Microsimulation Association from 8 to 10 June 2011 in Stockholm, Sweden, Dr. Tanja Kirn gave a presentation on data-based methods for measuring the marginal effective tax burden of companies. She focused in particular on the theoretical assumptions of these measurement concepts and their empirical implementation.

The International Microsimulation Association initiates the General Conference of the International Microsimulation Association triennial. The conference was hosted this year by Statistics Sweden (SSB). The conference focused on microsimulation models and their applications. The presentations were of interest to both creators and users of microsimulation models in authorities, government departments, and research institutions. It consisted of a range of plenary sessions.

Further presentations were given among others by Claude Charette (Statistics Canada), Melissa Favreault (The Urban Institute, USA), Gijs Dekkers (Federal Planning Bureau and CESO K.U. Leuven, Belgium), Ann Harding (President IMA and NATSEM, Australia), Andreas Peichl (IZA, University of Cologne and ISER, Germany), Matteo Richiardi (University of Turin and LABORatorio R. Revelli, Italy) and Holly Sutherland (University of Essex, UK).
