University of Liechtenstein starts teaching in presence

The Rectorate of the University of Liechtenstein is planning a return to regular face-to-face teaching at the campus for the start of the 2021/22 winter semester in September. For around 800 students in Vaduz, this means the longed-for normalisation of the learning experience.

In light of the positive epidemiological development in the Principality of Liechtenstein, the government has decided to further relax the measures against the spread of the coronavirus. On this basis, the Rectorate of the University of Liechtenstein is planning to run its Bachelor's, Master's and doctoral programmes as well as its continuing education programme again as regular face-to-face studies at the campus in Vaduz from 1 September 2021 for the start of the winter semester 2021/22. Where appropriate, online formats that have been tried and tested in the meantime can and should continue to be used. The further framework conditions according to which face-to-face study will take place will be based on the ordinance of the government of the Principality of Liechtenstein on the announced opening steps from 5 July 2021.

Rector Markus Jäger is optimistic that a safe return to the campus in Vaduz is possible thanks to the pleasing decline in the pandemic and the experience with protection concepts and measures for all students, lecturers and staff. "This means that the overall package is once again right - even for those who are still undecided about studying," Jäger is pleased to say, because studying would go far beyond simply learning content.

At the University of Liechtenstein, teaching for all consecutive Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in economics and architecture has been completely virtualised since autumn 2020. Classroom teaching was limited to selected courses and student work that depended on the infrastructure or other specific conditions on site - especially in the field of architecture - as well as to some continuing education programmes.
