The Ombudsman's Office is intended to strengthen trust in the organs, functionaries, and organizational units of the University of Liechtenstein, to lead to efficient informal solutions in the event of conflicts, and to assume a triage function in the event of suspected abuses at the university.
It contributes to protecting the reputation and academic integrity of the university, as well as the personality, personal integrity, and dignity of university members in connection with employment and study relationships. The ombudsman's office is intended to prevent or deal with violations of these legal interests.
The Ombudsman's Office deals with complaints of conflict situations in employment or study relationships. It also acts as a whistle-blowing office for reports of suspected legally and ethically incorrect behaviour and as a person of trust for reports of suspected misconduct in science.
On the other hand, the Ombudsman's Office is not a general advisory office and, in particular, does not provide legal advice. For general counselling as well as for emergency situations of a psychological, social or health-related nature, members of the university can contact the Counselling Office.
Further information on the objectives, principles, tasks, and responsibilities of the Ombudsman's Office and on its procedures can be found in the Regulations Governing the Ombudsman's Office of 10 February 2020 and the Code of Conduct for Members and Organs of the University of Liechtenstein of 10 February 2020.
