Vaduz – On Friday, 17 August, as part of a three-day visit by the four Honorary Consuls of Liechtenstein in the USA, there was also a working visit to the University of Liechtenstein.
The Head of the International Office, Trudi Ackermann, greeted the delegation from the USA for a working visit to the University of Liechtenstein. As well as the Liechtenstein Ambassador in Washington, Claudia Fritsche, the Honorary Consul for Liechtenstein in Georgia, Dr. Bruce S. Allen , the Honorary Consul in Illinois, Paul F. Donahue, the Honorary Consul in California, Leodis C. Matthews, and the Honorary Consul in Oregon, Mary Jean Thompson, were guests on the campus.
In addition, the American visitors were accompanied by Claudio Nardi and Professor Francesco A. Schurr, who holds the Chair of Company, Foundation and Trust Law at the University of Liechtenstein. Claudio Nardi completed his Master’s degree in Entrepreneurship at the University of Liechtenstein and has since been working as a member of the diplomatic staff at the Office for Foreign Affairs in Liechtenstein. Professor Schurr, who has already given speeches at the Lewis & Clark College, visited the Embassy of Liechtenstein in Washington in February this year during a study trip with the LL. M. in Corporate Law programme.
For several years now, the four Honorary Consuls in the USA have been supporting academic exchanges between American universities and the University of Liechtenstein. With their help, it has been possible to set up new collaborations with two US universities, the Georgia State University in Atlanta and the Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, in 2012. The Honorary Consuls were impressed by the University of Liechtenstein and its opportunities in the areas of teaching, research and transfer. During the working visit, existing activities were evaluated and further academic exchange programmes with the USA were discussed.
