The university's research develops out of its awareness of a strong regional identity: as a science location in a highly industrialised and service-oriented landlocked region in the Alps, embedded in the globally competitive economic and border region of Lake Constance. Global trends must be interpreted in relation to local characteristics. The treatment of regionally specific topics follows internationally high scientific standards. The results of the research activities are presented at scientific conferences and published in scientific journals and books.
The University of Liechtenstein sees itself as part of the European Research Area. It supports its institutions in acquiring national and international funding. By acquiring funding, the University's core topics are strengthened and their added value for the country is made visible. The Research Funding Office offers researchers competent support in this area.
